Get your garden buzzing with the GardenBee

GardenBee is a one woman business, owned and operated by the GardenBee, Claudia Hill.

I've obtained my degree in Landscape Architecture at the University of Applied Sciences Nuertingen - Geislingen in Germany in 1999 and then moved to New Zealand for good. After working in the NZ public service for over a decade (DOC & MED/MBIE) I decided it was time for a lifestyle change and to return to my roots. And so the GardenBee was born.

I've been gardening my whole life and I'm passionate about the NZ native flora and fauna. I love working in my own garden and growing my own vegetables. My goal is to bring more native plants into our gardens, including plants and flowers that are attractive for birds and bees. I'm familiar with NZ growing conditions, especially in and around Wellington.

Frequently asked questions

How much do you charge?

I have a flat rate of $35 per hour plus GST. I also charge $10 plus GST for travel within Wellington and any landfill costs for green waste, starting from $8 plus GST.

What frequency do you recommend for regular maintenance?

It really depends on the size and type of your garden, but it can be anything from 2, 4 or 6 weekly and between 1 to 6 hours per visit.

"Plants are increasingly being recognised as a vital part of our urban and domestic environments, not just a luxury or an unnecessary - if pleasant - bit of decoration. It has long been established, for example, that the mere view of plants through a window has a beneficial effect on the human psyche, and that plants can play an important role in cleaning and purifying the air of buildings and built-up environments."
